Research tells us that one of the most important causal factors associated with happiness and well-being is your meaningful connections with other human beings. For me, my connections with my family have been intermitted by my relationship with others. I want to have the best of both worlds; unfortunately, my dad didn’t always like who I was in a relationship with.  Here is how to form a better connection and achieve happiness through strong relationships.

Utilizing humor is one simple way of inviting others to want to be around you, and thus, helps create new friendships. But, on another “deeper” level, the attitudes and emotions that comprise a typically “humorous” nature like positively, happiness can create meaningful connections to others that have the ability to last a lifetime: happiness and positivity tap into a greater, universal appreciation of life. The pursuit of happiness is a uniquely human characteristic; an unmistakable component of the human psyche and the human soul.

As more time progresses, growing scientific research is developing to corroborate what many men and women over history have long understood: human emotion, behavior, and feelings are contagious.

Relationships create psychological space and safety so that we can explore and learn. When we feel supported, we don’t have to narrow in on survival tasks like responding to danger or finding our next meal. We are able to explore our world, which builds resources for times of stress and adversity.

Characteristics of close relationships:

  • The ability to love and be loved
  • Mutual understanding
  • Caring
  • A source of direct support in times of trouble
  • Celebration of good times
  • Validation of self-worth
  • Security
  • A diversity of ideas and influences that allows us grow and learn
  • Fun

I hope this helps form a more closer bond to people you truly care about.

If you asked an 8-year old version of me to list all the things I loved, it might have looked something like this:

  • Swings
  • Snow days
  • Beach days
  • Ice cream
  • Saturday morning cartoons

It didn’t occur to me until later in life that some of the best things are intangible; and that I could experience them at any time if I just opened my heart and mind to let them in. I think most of us know this intellectually—that pride in our job can be more valuable than what it buys, for example. But sometimes we get so caught up in securing the trappings of the good life—the house, the furnishings, the clothes—we’re too distracted to notice and appreciate the intangibles.

I revamped my list about what to love about life. Including a compilation of all my blogs. “What do you love about life?” Some of my favorites include:

1. Love

2. Family

3. Just being able to wake up to the sun shining in the morning

4. The ability to overcome hardships and appriciate the little things in life instead of wishing I had more.

5. Our ability to empathize. It allows us to connect and support each.

6. They live in the moment and enjoy being alive, and it reminds me to do the same

7. That I am someone who makes a real difference in the world

8.Moments of realization that I’m not as alone as I too often think I am

9. Every breath I take reminds me I’m still here and still have much to enjoy

10. I love the moments when more than one person ‘get’s’ the illusory joke and for a moment sees that we are one

11. Being alive and happy at this moment because is the only thing that exists

12. Affecting people without realizing it

13. The beauty of it. No matter how bad things get, there is always something beautiful to keep us going forward

Coming to peace on your own is exactly what draws in abundance and wealth. Concentrating on that which you lack will just provide you with negative feelings like envy, anger, insecurity, and much more wanting. However when you are in peace with whatever your circumstances in existence is, you do not consider that which you lack therefore preventing the world to provide you with more reasons to pay attention to what you don’t have.

Coming to Peace – How to get it done?

Meditation will help you forget your worries and install new positive values. Getting a place where one can silently sit lower and relax is a terrific way to start your meditation. Breathing exercises can help you relax. Do these while visualizing a peaceful scene in your thoughts to assist enable you to get into utter relaxation.

You cant ever fail with gratefulness, the sensation of gratefulness is exhilarating by itself. Regardless of what your waiting in existence is, think about something you may be grateful about no matter how small it’s. Being grateful implies that you appreciate existence because it is. Be grateful for that air you breathe, what food you’re eating, the folks who are around you who supplment your existence.

You attract anything you give your focus and focus on, if you concentrate on gratitude, the world provides you with more good reasons to be grateful.

Never pressure anything for this will just result in frustration in case your expected result wasn’t met. Believe it does not matter what situation you receive yourself into or how negative your experience is, everything will come out fine ultimately.

You take control of your future. So be careful and be familiar with your ideas and feelings. The greater peaceful together with your existence you’re, the greater. Bear in mind that coming to peace on your own is among the best steps you can take to obtain abundance and wealth flowing to your existence.

Next time you’re stressed, take a step back, inhale and laugh. Be strong, love yourself, and love others. Remember, just keep moving forward. Let your dreams be bigger than your fears, your actions louder than your words, and your faith stronger than your feelings.  I found these on the internet and they reminded me how important it is to be strong.

 Lately it’s a struggle to stay motivated. I graduate in May and start my career in June. I don’t have to be a “straight A” student anymore, because grades don’t necessarily matter to an employer who I’ve already signed my offer letter with. My drive is constantly assaulted by negative thoughts and anxiety about the future. Everyone faces doubt and depression. What separates the highly successful is the ability to keep moving forward.

There is no simple solution for a lack of motivation. Even after beating it, the problem reappears at the first sign of failure. The key understands your thoughts and how they drive your emotions. By learning how to nurture motivating thoughts, neutralize negative ones, and focus on the task at hand, you can pull yourself out of a slump before it gains momentum.

After doing some research I’ve found that there are 3 ways we lose motivation. First, there is a lack of confidence. If we don’t believe we can succeed, why try? Second, there is a lack of focus. If we don’t know what the goal is, do we really want to achieve something when we are unsure of the results? Third, there is a lack of direction. If we don’t know what to do, how can we get there?

I’ve developed some ways to overcome this undeniable fact that we are all not always motivate to do something. The first motivation killer is a lack of confidence. When this happens to me, it’s usually because I’m focusing entirely on what I want and neglecting what I already have. When you only think about what you want, your mind creates explanations for why you aren’t getting it. This creates negative thoughts. Past failures, bad breaks, and personal weaknesses dominate your mind. I recently wrote a blog about how to improve your self-confidence. The second motivation killer  is a lack of focus. How often do you focus on what you don’t want, rather than on a concrete goal? We normally think in terms of fear. If you’re caught up in fear based thinking, the first step is focusing that energy on a well defined goal. By defining a goal, you automatically define a set of actions.

The third motivation killer is lack of direction. If focus means having an ultimate goal, direction is having a day-to-day strategy to achieve it. A lack of direction kills motivation because without an obvious next action we succumb to procrastination. The key to finding direction is identifying the activities that lead to success. For every goal, there are activities that pay off and those that don’t. Make a list of all your activities and arrange them based on results. Then make a make an action plan that focuses on the activities that lead to big returns.

Self-confidence is the difference between feeling unstoppable and feeling scared out of your wits. Your perception of yourself has an enormous impact on how others perceive you. Perception is reality — the more self-confidence you have, the more likely it is you’ll succeed. Although many of the factors affecting self-confidence are beyond your control, there are a number of things you can consciously do to build self-confidence. By using these 5 strategies you can get the mental edge you need to reach your potential.

 1. Dress Sharp

Although clothes don’t make the man, they certainly affect the way he feels about himself. No one is more conscious of your physical appearance than you are. When you don’t look good, it changes the way you carry yourself and interact with other people. Use this to your advantage by taking care of your personal appearance. In most cases, significant improvements can be made by bathing and shaving frequently, wearing clean clothes, and being cognizant of the latest styles.

This doesn’t mean you need to spend a lot on clothes. One great rule to follow is “spend twice as much, buy half as much”. Rather than buying a bunch of cheap clothes, buy half as many select, high quality items. In long run this decreases spending because expensive clothes wear out less easily and stay in style longer than cheap clothes. Buying less also helps reduce the clutter in your closet.

2. Good Posture

Similarly, the way a person carries herself tells a story. People with slumped shoulders and lethargic movements display a lack of self-confidence. They aren’t enthusiastic about what they’re doing and they don’t consider themselves important. By practicing good posture, you’ll automatically feel more confident. Stand up straight, keep your head up, and make eye contact. You’ll make a positive impression on others and instantly feel more alert and empowered.

3. Gratitude

When you focus too much on what you want, the mind creates reasons why you can’t have it. This leads you to dwell on your weaknesses. The best way to avoid this is consciously focusing on gratitude. Set aside time each day to mentally list everything you have to be grateful for. Recall your past successes, unique skills, loving relationships, and positive momentum. You’ll be amazed how much you have going for you and motivated to take that next step towards success.

4. Compliment other people

When we think negatively about ourselves, we often project that feeling on to others in the form of insults and gossip. To break this cycle of negativity, get in the habit of praising other people. Refuse to engage in backstabbing gossip and make an effort to complement those around you. In the process, you’ll become well liked and build self-confidence. By looking for the best in others, you indirectly bring out the best in yourself.

5. Focus on contribution

Too often we get caught up in our own desires. We focus too much on ourselves and not enough on the needs of other people. If you stop thinking about yourself and concentrate on the contribution you’re making to the rest of the world, you won’t worry as much about you own flaws. This will increase self-confidence and allow you to contribute with maximum efficiency. The more you contribute to the world the more you’ll be rewarded with personal success and recognition.

To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself. ~Thich Nhat Hanh There are people that I’ve talked with that feel they have no joy in their life. They feel obligated to do so many things that they don’t have time for themselves and the things they really want to do. As a result, they feel drained, anxious, and resentful. With so many outside forces competing for their time, energy and financial resources, is it really any wonder they feel this way? So what do we do? How can we remain balanced among this sea of obligations and commitments?

The answer is to live consciously. By looking at each decision we are making and by asking ourselves, “Is this really what I want to be doing? Is this really what is right for me?” And then by making sure our actions stay in alignment with our true intentions. Saying yes when we mean no often causes us not to trust ourselves. It damages our confidence and lowers our self-esteem.

So why do we do it? From a young age, my father has been telling me what to do for every little life decision. I was conditioned to act in certain ways in order to feel loved and accepted. This is the beginning of our loss of personal power and authenticity. Now as an adult I find it difficult to make any sort of decision without consulting in my dad.

In order to create change we will need to recondition our beliefs by discovering what is really true for us. These are the questions I ask myself to become aware of any patterns and beliefs that no longer work for me. Once you become aware of these beliefs, you can simply begin to consciously change them.

Ask yourself: “Why am I doing this? Is it because…”

  1. I will feel guilty if I don’t?
  2. Everyone else is doing it, so I should too?
  3. I want others to think I am a nice person?
  4. I want to feel accepted?
  5. I don’t feel good enough about myself to do what is really right for me?
  6. I have trouble saying “no” or being myself around certain people?

If you have said “yes” to any of the above questions you are cheating yourself out of the things that bring you happiness and joy! The next time you hear yourself saying, I love to play soccer…but I don’t have time or I love to just lie in bed…but I’m too busy remember you can choose differently. You can choose to believe you are valuable; what is right for you does matter, and that your happiness is a priority. Your life is the culmination of each decision you make every moment (whether you are aware of what you are choosing or not).Begin to understand the intention behind every action you take and make a conscious decision to do only what is right for you. Gather the courage each moment and say “no” to anything or anyone that doesn’t allow you to be yourself, or to live in alignment with your dreams.

I know for me the end of the semester is the most stressful. It seems like teachers discuss when to make everything due so all the students are on the verge of breaking or at least pulling out their hair. I’ve learned through my college experience time management is key. Unfortunately, for me and a few others in the College of Business lately time management is obsolete. Once you finish one assignment or test the next day something even more important is due. So I thought now would be a good time for some stress management tips. 

1.      Eat Right

Stress levels and a proper diet are closely related. Unfortunately, it’s when we have the most work that we forget to eat well and, instead, resort to using sugary, fatty snack foods as a pick-me-up. Try to avoid the vending machine and plan ahead. Fruits and vegetables are always good, as is fish with high levels of omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to reduce the symptoms of stress. 2.  Talk your self through it

Sometimes calling a friend is not an option. If this is the case, talking to yourself can be the next best thing to avoid wigging out. Don’t worry about seeming crazy, just tell yourself why you’re stressed out, what you have to do to complete the task at hand, and most importantly, that everything will be okay (trust us, it will be).

3. Breath Easy

The advice “take a deep breath” may seem like a cliché, but it holds real truth when it comes to stress. For centuries, Buddhist monks have been conscious of deliberate breathing during meditation. For an easy three- to five-minute exercise, sit up in your chair with your feet flat on the floor and hands on top of your knees. Breathe in and out slowly and deeply, concentrating on your lungs as they expand fully in your chest. While shallow breathing causes stress, deep breathing oxygenates your blood, helps center your body, and clears your mind.

4. Laugh it off

Laughter releases endorphins that improve mood and decrease levels of the stress-causing hormones cortisol and adrenaline. Laughing tricks our nervous system into making us happy. Unfortunately, bursting into a fit of giggles at your desk may not be the most appropriate way to deal with stress.

5. Try Tea

I rely on the stimulating effects of coffee as much as the next guy, it is important to note that caffeine does blood pressure and causes your hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis to go into overdrive. In other words, caffeine stresses you out. Instead of coffee or energy drinks, try green tea. It has less than half the caffeine of coffee and contains healthy antioxidants, as well as theanine—an amino acid that has a calming and soothing effect on the nervous system.

6. Be mindful

While most of the tips I’ve suggested provide immediate relief, there are also many lifestyle changes that can be more effective in the long run. The concept of “mindfulness” is a large part of meditative and somatic approaches to mental health and has become en vogue in psychotherapy. From yoga and tai chi to meditation and Pilates, these systems of mindfulness incorporate physical and mental exercises that prevent stress from becoming a problem in the first place. Try joining a class—many are free to try on the first day.

7. Excersie as often as you can

Exercise doesn’t necessarily mean power lifting at the gym or training for a marathon. Go on a short walk or simply standing up to stretch during a break can offer immediate relief in a stressful situation. Getting your blood moving releases endorphins and can improve your mood almost instantaneously.

8. Sleep Better

Everyone knows stress can cause you to lose sleep. Unfortunately, lack of sleep is also a key cause of stress. This vicious cycle causes the brain and body to get out of whack and only gets worse and worse with time. Make it a point to get the doctor-recommended seven to eight hours of sleep. Turn the TV off earlier, manage your time, and do your best to get into bed.

9.  Have a positive attitude

Having a more positive attitude always help. Just keep an open mind and think you only have a few more weeks of school left. So finish strong and have a positive attitude.

10. Accept that there are events that you cannot control

Somethings you can just not control. No matter how hard you study or try somethings you just need to accept that you did your best and thats the best you can do.

In a world of hustle and bustle it can sometimes become easy to take for granted the bonds we have formed with those we love the most. We can sometimes forget the importance of showing family and friends how much we care, and appreciate them on a daily basis. “Peace, like charity, begins at home.” -Franklin D. Roosevelt

The family is the corner stone of our society. More than any other force it shapes the attitude, the hopes, the ambitions, and the values of the child. The life with your family is very important it plays a major role in your development into the person you become. The goals you set for yourself in your life are very much dependent on the life you have with your family. Those children who belong to the families which have a rich education background tend to learn more. One of the greatest things a father can do for his childrenis to love their mother. Similarly, for example, children who belong to a family from which a few of the people are in the field of professional sports, the kids tend to have an interest in sports and they also plan to go into the same field. The sons and daughters of stars from the film industries usually plan to follow the suit of their parents. Thus it is the effect of your family life which guides you to decide what profession you want to do as an adult.

Family life is also important in the sense that it gives you your basic strength as a person. The people who have a smooth and well settled family life are generally less scared of life. Those who are a part of a broken family are generally less confident. These people always expect the worst in life. This is a general state of mind which results in building up of a negative personality. Family life is also important to people as it is the part of our life which has more effect on us compared to any other part of our life. The way a mother treats her kids is actually the deciding factor of what those kids will be like as human beings when they grow up. Good family life is never an accident but always an achievement by those who share it.

Easter is a time to consider hope. Easter is a time of resurrection, restoration, and hope. It’s an opportunity to reflect on the promises of God and what they mean for our future. Despair becomes hope. An old life gives way to the new. The shadow of death recedes. Around the world Sunday, hundreds of millions of Christians will celebrate their holiday of renewal. But now more than ever, I, believes God has a personal stake in the lives of those who love him. As he sits in church this morning, he may reflect on what he calls his new future, deeper faith and greater capacity to love.

But it is also a time we realize that hope is absent in the lives of so many people. Too hungry, sick, poor, and weary to grasp any form of joy—they are left to struggle through the pain of hopelessness.
